Cruise-mileage
Cruise control will generally decrease you mpg. As you know cruise control sets the speed that you want to travel at and therefore that setting will increase or decrease the amount of fuel that is required to maintain that speed.

If you get into even slight grades, most CC's tend to over- correct to bring the vehicle up to speed. Partly because they also let the vehicle slow down a few miles per hour before they kick in and have a lot to make up. If you get on a really long grade, they will do alot of hunting too. When you crest the hill, they let off the throttle abruptly, which is also inefficient. Maybe you can plan your next vacation on the Ohio Turnpike.
