A welder on our ranch showed us this. Easy way to cut circles with a torch in sheet metal.
What you need:
3/8" all thread rod(any decent size should work)
2-same sized nut.
Washer the right size to fit snuggly around the torch tip-ours was 1/2"
Welding rod for a cradle on the back side
Nail for the pivot

First, find the washer that fits your tip and weld it end to end of the all thread. Then build your cradle. It should come straight off the rod then split to fit tight around the torch body so that it wont slide off. Get the rod sitting level with the rod. After this, test fit the assembley on the torch. Then run your 2 nuts onto the rod. Take the torch close to a sheet of metal and find the length of nail you need to keep the tip the right distance off the metal. Once you cut your nail down, weld it to one nut. The other nut is your jamb nut. Once you have this built, I recommend using rubberbands to help hold the assembley to the torch, since they are easy to take off. Now just adjust your nut to get the radius you need, then suck the other nut down tight to it so it wont come undone. Heres a pic of the finished product, and a nice circle it can cut. Im working on a pretty neat Texas star project that Ill post pics of when done. Tell me what yall think.
