Cat back vs. Turbo Back w/ Stacks

Would running a turbo back exhaust be way to loud with stacks? I've still got the "muffler" on the system but am thinking about just running it as a stright pipe.

Depends on a lot of things, pipe size, cab size, stack style, and Downpipe size. What exactly do you want? And fill out your signature so we know about your truck

Unless you already have hearing issues.....keep a muffler of some sort on there....running the stacks with a str8 exhaust is WWAAAAYYYYYY TOO LOUD!!!!!

I installed an FTE resonator on the end of the downpipe and it helped a little when I had my stacks on but it was still quite loud.

this is the 1st diesel i've had that isn't stright piped but the rest of them had the exhaust ran out the back. Since this is my 1st Cummins i didnt know if i would gain any extra HP my doing so.

Opening up the restrictive factory exhaust will definitely help it breathe better but there is virtually no performance gain from it...maybe a slight drop in egt.

I used two 5" resonators with my stacks (shown below) and they take just enough of the bark out of it for me...My four inch, turbo back system also includes a 36" Magnaflow muffler...They've been on the truck about seven years now with no regrets...The sound is perfect for me......Ben

i was thinking that if i didn't like the sound of a stright pipe inside the cab i could just take out the stacks and run the exhaust out the side or out the back of the truck. but i would hate to lose the look of the stacks!
