I towed and drove my truck daily with 500 H.P. with a single turbo but the lag was pretty bad that is why I went to twins. I have had a lot less smoke and easier driving around town until I installed the Stage 4 Injectors now the smoke is back and maybe even more that before.

I make about 500 with my single B1. I tow pretty heavy on occasion and I have to worry more about my NV4500 than I do my EGTs .The lag isnt too bad at all, it only takes about 2-300 more rpms to really hit hard (versus my hx 35). Id say it is VERY doable just so long as you do it right. Head studs and fire rings are a must, complete trans, EDMs, TST or EDGE, and a B1 . You should be able to lay down a very reliable ~500 ponies to tow and play with.
