Bully Dog EGT's
Bully Dog EGT's
I just ordered a Triple Dog and I was wondering about the Extreme setting's EGT'S. I don't have any gauges or the Outlook monitor. I never tow more than 6000 lbs and was looking to set it on the Extreme setting permanetly. Is this an issue with towing such little weight? Or, can I set it on the Crazy Larry setting permanetly as long as I tow with caution. Does anybody know what the EGT's are on the settings and what about SMOKE? I am completely stock right down to the air filter.
I only have exh and a drop in filter and I see about 1100 tops while WOT to 80mph in performance mode with no load.
In extreme it will climb close to 1300 before I let off.
I would'nt tow it in exteme or crazy larry.

So it is completely safe to run in the extreme setting while empty and completely stock. What about the smoke in the extreme setting, is there a lot or just a little. I was also wondering about the torque in the low rpms, is it pretty responsive or do you have to get it in the higher rpms before you notice anything?
It seems to be fine in extreme unloaded. Not sure if the tranny will hold up long during hard driving. There is not a lot of smoke with this downloader in either performance or extreme setting unless you stand on it from a stop. Then whoever is behind you will be covered...
It is much more responsive than stock. Far better driveability, you will notice the tq down low for sure.

I would suggest gauges before you tow with anything that adds power. The TripleDog is great. On the extreme setting driving thru town in low rpm's mine smokes real good. Above 1800 or so it only smokes when you get on it.

On my 05 with the BDDL on extreme I saw EGT's upwards of 1600F for about three seconds on a drag run. Be very careful with the extreme/CL setting as it will break parts especially if you are towing with it. And like the other guys mention the extreme and CL will smoke like crazy from a stop and these settings do have much better response on the low end...at least mine does. Good luck and be sure to get gauges and start saving for a TC/VB etc.
