bought an HX35

I was at a guys shop that tinkers alot and saw an HX35 over in the pile. It has a twisted off main shaft (don't know what the heck could have cause that) but I was just mainly interested in the 12cm housing to put on my H1C. I walked out with it for $20.

So am I right that this housing will fit on my H1C? Should I do that or just send this thing to somebody and have it rebuilt?

This exhaust housing looks different than the one I have now. There is a plate bolted on that the exhaust flange is on. Is that a newer one or what?

The turbine housing will bolt right on. If you bought a compressor kit from HTT or Gillett you'd have a better turbo than a stock HX-35.

Since you have a 5 speed, I recommend that you put a compressor kit on at the same time as the 12 cm housing. The H1C has a tendency to surge at high boost and low RPM, the compressor kits have MWE slots that solve the surging issue.

I am going to get a compressor upgrade, should I get the stage IV? Is it that much better than stage III?

It's not worth the extra money. Get the III and start saving for a bigger turbo. You have the injectors to run an HTB2.

If I still have the stock exhaust straight piped and a stock inter-cooler does the upgrade make it breath much better?

I was on a trip with a friend of mine in is 99 this weekend. He was pulling 15k lbs easier than I pull 7k and complaining his injector pump was going out. Thing that got me on it was he was running less boost and EGTs up the hills than I do pulling less weight. He does have a bully dog computer of some type and 90hp injectors IIRC.
He has a nice foot long crack in the 53 block though. We were getting around 15mpg on water

So is a HTB2 comparable to a stage IV? You lost me.

An HTB2 blows a stage 4 out of the water, depending on the setup of the htb2.

An HTB2 has a 4" exhaust outlet and a bigger turbine wheel.

If you are running thermonuclear EGT's right now and are hoping a compressor kit will get them down around 1200, you will be disappointed.

I was mis-reading what you said. Cruising down the road its 600-650, full fuel up a big hill I can hit 1100 post turbo. I did that once kinda had me nervous. I would like a big aftermarket turbo, but will have to settle for stage III for now. I really don't tow that much, maybe one or two 4500-5000# cars and realize I would have to watch it. 4" exhaust will help too I am sure. So now my wish list is even longer.
Skyjacker springs, compressor, Stan's 4", 3 piece manifold. Oh well I was warned about this!!

I know it sounds pidly, but where is a good place to get the fitting to put the pyro in the exhaust manifold?

When I replaced my down pipe, I put a new one in and I think I got it from Jegs. They have several so you need to know the thread size. They are called welding bungs or just bungs.

The 12cm housing is gonna pack more air into the engine (more boost) for the same amount of fuel supplied. Think of it as having more leverage on the turbine wheel.

Apples to oranges, really. The biggest limiting factor on a 12v is the 12 valves A 24v is going to be able to cool a lot more HP with less mods to airflow and more fuel when compared to a 12v bacause the head simply flows better.

I'd say toss the 12 on there if you can watch your pedal application in the lower revs--it really is a great housing If you like to get into the fuel a lot below 1900, then do as Dave suggests and upgrade to a stage III compressor housing at the same time.

I think the Stage III will do fine for you until you tweak the pump some more. You're probably only at 1300 pre turbo with the big housing you have now.
