People who steal yard signs (from either side) are intolerant morons. Not only are they trespassing and stealing private property, they are trampling on people's right to free speech.

 

Yes, it is wrong and we've had quite a rash of MAC/Palin signs ripped-off down here.
When I heard they had actually run out of signs to replace all the ones stolen, I darned sure didn't want them to steal mine.
A thought "BRIEFLY" went through my head for the best way to secure them AND provide some entertainment for myself...

Materials needed:

First, a well grounded, continous output fence charger with a safe, but HEALTHY output... None of those wimpy doggy chargers would do for a sign thief... Something from Tractor Supply Co. would be about right.

2nd, a roll of black, solid-core HV sparkplug wire to "ground-out" the high voltage terminal on the fence charger via one-each metal wire framed political yard sign... Leave enough slack so the wire wouldn't get jerked off of the HV terminal TOO quickly...

Third, point one or two video surveillance cameras at the area of the sign... Connect a video recorder, so you can watch it again and again..

Finally, when a conductive perp comes along and foolishly removes the political yardsign "ground rod" from the highvoltage terminal, he will begin to dance the dance of involuntary muscle contraction... (Best observed in slow motion video...)


I know, I know.... It's EXTREMELY illegal to set a trap like that...
Even for some sorry, low-down scumbag that is so intensely intolerant of anybody else's political opinion..
Like I said, the thought only BRIEFLY went through my mind..

But,... even visualizing the "dance" in my mind's eye gave me pleasure...
