Go up to the links button to find suppliers.
The Edge EZ would be a good start.
If you choose the comp box they make, you risk( and it is a long shot) a pump failure.
Next I'd say 275 injectors. Both of these mods normally show some improvement in mileage.
Next you are in Dire need of some trans work!!
Welcome to the site!!

If you are going to BOMB the truck then the first mod should always be GAUGES. Looks like you still need the EGT and Tranny temp and it wouldn't be a bad idea to have a fuel pressure gauge for the lift pump.
Just my $0.02 worth.

Ahhh, what this boy needs is a star wheel!!!

Gauges first, then Edge EZ or comp, but if you comp, you'd probably better work on your truck's breathing (intake and exhaust) as well.

Welcome. The BOMB bug has no cure.

2500,,,listen to me closely.....the ez will only waste money for you,,do it right the first time,,go ahead and get a comp box.this is the best all around performance mod you can get for the money.the 275`s are a nice little gain in power-skip `em-go ahead and get 1.5`s.theres no need in spending all this money on things that help a little bit,you will only want more,so go ahead and buy parts that will net you the best results, that way you`ll only buy once.if you cant yet quite afford the better parts i mention, wait, keep saving and get them as you can.if you dont believe me now,,wait a few years, then you`ll wish you would have............bama

Hahah!

Hi Bama! We've all been bitten by the bug!
I feel like we're in a 12-step program.
Bama's right. Save your coin. You'll want more later. I did, and apparently, so did he.

If you want it loud straight pipe it. It makes a big difference. My truck is a standard cab and it took 5'3" of 3" pipe if you hack off the resonator and the muff. Then take the tail pipe to a muff shop and have the swell the end to slip over the 3" and have them swell the 3" to slip over the down tube and then reuse the clamps. You will also need to weld on a new hanger. I used 3/8 rod and welded it to the new 3". If you take a few measurements of the stock hanger location the muffler shop can weld it on for you. You can probably do this for 20-30$..

The best first mod to make with very little money and no gauges would be a $40 muffler removal. I took my truck to a privately owned muffler/radiator shop and had the muffler removed and a straight pipe put in from the resonator to the tailpipe. I don't think you can get a cheaper mod than that, all the rest of these mods require $$$$$$. In order of price after that mod, you can replace the banjo fittings, then a air filter upgrade. After that get ready to bust open a big piggy bank.

The general concensus is your best firt mod is gauges...however straight piping the exhaust is cheap and won't cause any potential heat etc. I'd leave teh resonator on and straight pipe from teh res back (i.e. loose muffler only).

Man- I am glad someone asked this question- has been going through my mind as well- I am going gauges first, straight pipe second, and tranny third- AFTER THAT- the sky is the limit LOL

I've got one question for the group... how much does it cost to rebuild a blown transmission?

Everyone is throwing out great suggestions for making a load of HP, but I only saw one mention of transmission work!

Did you guys miss the part where Dan mentioned that he was 17? No offense to you Dan, but I can't imagine the hurt I would have put on a CTD auto trans driving the way I did when I was 17. (I'm only 25 now, but I've calmed down a lot in the past few years)

I'm not saying that Dan should not partake in the glorious pursuit of Horsepower and Torque, he just needs to be aware of the limitations of his stock transmission. We all know transmission upgrades are pretty much the most expensive mods we make, but IMO they are also the most important.

Dan, if you really want to start down the road to BOMBville, you need to address the limitations of your transmission. Otherwise, start thinking about how you're going to explain to your Dad why your trans is blown and that it's going to cost thousands of dollars to fix it.

Good luck and have fun!

Russ

I am a long time race car builder/driver- and I tend to beef up the chassis first, as to take full advantage of future HP mods. Comes from a near flat learning curve as a young man, building super motors (BB mopars are still my specialty) and breaking chassis parts, failing to get the HP to the ground etc. So as soon as I learned the limitations of the Auto trans, that became, well, really third, Gauges, KDP, then trans

From what I gathered on this site and others, I will spend about 3 grand on the tranny, a DTT unit.

OK well i had a straight pipe on the truck, but i keep wakeing my dad up at 6am when i was leaveing to go to school so i told him that all the truck came with was the resonator so i have had the resonator on the truck but the other day he was by my pool and saw my muffler and told me to put it back on but i stiil have it off lol. I am geting like $750.00 from some stuff i just sold from my old car so i want to put it to the truck. I was thinking that what ever i do to the truck my mom and dad will never know and yes i put a lot of hurt on my auto trans i had 4 new tires put on in march and the back ones are haft gone, i beat on the truck alot b/c i like the sound of the truck and i know its bad for the truck so i need to stop. I do a lot of towing from Ct to up state NY and its all up hills so i what power. So what do i need to get from my trans were do i get it and how much am i looking to spend after my trans i want to do the Edge comp but how do i know if my pump is going to failure.

Thanks

Dan

One more thing all the work that needs to be done on the truck from the trans to the exhaust to the motor or what ever else i plane on doing my self. I know a lot about fixing things and i am willing to learn how do to stuff if i do not know how. I do not like to have other people work on my truck or car so i can just about do anything my last car was a Vw passat 5 speed and i drop the trans in it in about 20min so i know that my truck is a lot diff
