Anyone know of a website that lists axle seals by size and part number? Or if anyone happens to know the part number for a D60 axle seal with a 1.5" inner diameter that would work also.

Im converting my 2000 D60 to a late 2002 one piece shaft and need to find a smaller seal as the old shaft is 1.925" at the CAD seal.

you will need a seal for a 02 and you will have to pull the diff to install it.

If I can find the right seal Im going to change the CAD seal and avoid tearing the pass side apart and pulling the diff. Thats a lot of extra work I can avoid if I can just find some seal dimensions. Might just see if NAPA will let me measure some seals.

Does anyone know what the shaft diameter of the shaft at the seal on a 00 or 02 driver side?

on a 02 solid shaft the seal surface is up by the diff not half way out. you maybe could have the shaft turned to accept a seal out there but I doubt it would work very well

A late 2002 does not have a CAD axle. The only place for a seal is at the center section and you have to pull the carrier to replace it. Your earlier housing may not accept a seal as it was not machined in that area for a seal.

It will take a seal I put one in my cousins 99 with my old 02 shaft.

I found some seal specs and bought a driver side seal to replace the CAD seal. The specs on rockauto are wrong and so are the computers at Autozone, Advanced, and O'Reilys.

The shaft is relatively smooth where the seal will be and Im going to polish it before it goes in. I dont think there is that much oil that far out into the housing anyhow so Im not worried about it.

If you put the seal in the diff what did you do about the axle breather? On a CAD axle the breather is in the CAD cover and with the seal before it you would have no breather.

put the breather in the diff cover. I actually gave him my old cover I put an armored one on my truck.

I'll be having my front axle (Dana 60) inserted with new inner axle seals soon. Mine has started to leak a few months ago.

Just so you guys know, by searching on this great form, I did find an aftermarket company (MAD 4 Wheel Drive) that makes "Outer Axle Seals" for the Dana 60 front axle which will keep dirt, water and gunk out of the axle.

I just ordered a set for $55 and they look to be very sturdy and work with 30 & 35 spline shafts.

those seals from mad look good, guess I might consider those when I get ready to....ur I mean when the truck is ready for me to replace the three remaining factory ball joints, which probably won't be long.
