anyone using M&H dynamic timing advance device?

http://www.mandhinc.net/DPD-3-D.html

if so, what were the results?

ALSO, can you have too much dynamic timing on these engines? i have 1/4" of timing which im assuming means i have 16-18 base timing and with this thing would end up with 35-38* dynamic.

I've never seen or heard of that before. Where do you even install it? More dynamic advance does sound good at higher rpms.

The purpose of this is to allow you effectively turn back the timing so you have low end power and still have the pump advanced so you get the top end power.

When you install the spacer it increases the initial setting to lower the timing without you changing the pump setting. The extra travel then gives you the high rpm timing you want.

thomas has done some comparison work between running with and without the spacer. he's posted his results over on diesel bombers. it's a considerable difference between the two and i'm sure there's a bit more power in the higher RPM range. i'm still looking to see if i can find the thread he posted in about it. i'm considering purchasing one so i've been looking for this info. i'll post the info i find when i do.

As long as your case pressure stays up I think it will work. If you start loosing case pressure the dynamic advance will back off. I think most guys have enough fuel for it to work. I have never played with case pressure gauges so I talking with no first hand info.

With this Kit do you still need a governer spring to bring up the RPM'S? I am looking at getting one for my 93 along with a Fuel Pin.

No, all it does is increase the overall range of timing advance.

I was able to get in touch with them and I am placing my order, timing advance kit, fuel pin and a 3200 governor spring in case I decide to change mine out. I guess it is time to install the injectors and the rest of the mods I want to do also.

If you're doing this with the pump still in the truck, do the spring and shims fit inside the KSB housing so that you don't lose them, or is there some other trick to getting them in place?

I'm guessing there is going to be some fuel loss as well?

I placed my order this morning and should have it in a few days. You will have to call them or e-mail them and tell them about your truck and what you have and are doing with it and they will help you with what you need for it.

Fuel loss is minimal, hardly any. The main trick is PAY ATTENTION. If you're not working on a hard surface (concrete or asphalt), put something under the truck so if you drop something it will be easier to find. Please don't ask me why I know this
