Anyone else have problems getting dialed in?
Ok guys just trying to get this thing dialed in, with the mods in my sig, smarty on #9, tst on 3/1 with 05 tt program, when i go WOT, i hit 75 psi boost on the lower rpms, then once i get to around 2400 the boost starts to nose dive, will drop down to 55-60 psi. Now if i just roll in to it nice and easy on the same settings it will hit 80 psi and stay there longer then eventually fall off around 3000 rpm if i stay away from WOT. This is pretty consistent with any combination of settings. Also, when i had the 2000-5000 twin setup it was the same thing, except i would hit 55 psi and drop down to 38 psi at higher rpms. Anyone know why im loosing so much boost at higher rpms? Also when im going through this its smoking like crazy all the way up to 40psi then clears up, then when the boost falls off, it starts making a rattle noise like the valves are floating or something then starts smoking like crazy again. My rail pressure seems to be staying above 20000 during all of this. I would like to see this thing pull hard all the way through and not drop off. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Well like i said, if i dont go wot and just roll into it, but dont push the throttle all the way down, it will hold boost. But in doing that after i see that it holds boost, then just go wot then thats when i loose the boost. I thought about that also, and ill definately doo that, one would think that if it was a leak it would leak all the time not just at wot. But like you said just to rule it out im gonna do that. Im kinda leaning towards like a defueling problem maybe or some kind of programming issue maybe.

Try Smarty alone...
then TST alone...
Then try Smarty on 7,5,3 etc. Find the one that runs best...and add 1-1, 2-1, 3-1, etc of TST over the top. I think you could add 3 to 6 degrees of auto timing (TST) over the top of Smarty programing too.
It took me months of fooling around till I found what setting work best with my truck. I now expect to do that all over again...lol.

Yeah I agree with cquestad, try things by themselves.. it definately sounds programing related... so hard to figure those stupid little things out

yeah theres so many combos you can run with the two stacked like that. Everything pressure checks ok, im just hoping its not another melted piston, or something internal.

It has to be a programming issue, since the problem is intermittent - albeit repeatable.
Which Smarty SW are you running?
I'd recommend trying another version.

well i have twin cp3s so i wouldnt think that would be an issue, all i have is the tst rail pressure gauge and it says its staying up there, when i loose boost the rail pressure actually goes up, like its defueling

what do u mean sw compatability? Im running the "wild" aftermarket injectors and turbo program. Could be duration i soppose, how do i get more duration? This has been an issue even when i was running a xcelerator and tst stack. Is anyone else having this issue with a stack with the smarty or tst?

Your MAP sensor is going out of readable range causing the engine to go into limp mode by cutting fuel.
Try a program that does not fuel as hard below 1600 rpms and see if that clears up the issue.

yeah ive tried that, it does it no matter what settings i run, ive tried the smarty on 2 and 3 with the tst on 3 and 1 still does it just at a lower boost. Its weird, Could it be something mechanical? Like valves or something like that?

how do you tell if you have a boost cap on the smarty version? But i dont think its that caust it will do it with the xcelerator hot also instead of the smarty. Ive played with the wastegate and that dosent stop it either. See what its doing is above 2500 in any gear it will loose boost then once it shifts rpms drop down to around 2000 and the boost comes right back, then once the rpms get above 2500 it looses boost again untill it shifts then it comes right back so on and so on. It seems like its defueling to shift, but the tst isnt set to defuel and the smarty wild shouldnt defuel that much i wouldnt think that i loose 18lbs of boost.
