Amsoil Eaa 189 air filter or AfE super stock drop in

Which air filter has the best air flow and filteration. I am looking for a drop in to get me by until I have enough HP or EGT to justify a Banks cold air intake.

I had the AFE at first.
Kept pulling the filter minder down even new out of the box.
Maybe over oiled from the factory.
Cleaned it, re oiled it myself as I have done a million K&Ns over the years, same deal.

Went to the amsoil dry EAA 189, hasn't moved in over 14 months.
Just take it out clean it wit the shop vac an keep rollin.

Im also running the Amsoil filter and agree with the above post.
Iv had it in for about eight months.
One thing I did notice was a drop of 50* on the EGT gauge with the Amsoil.
One of the easiest filter to clean.

I've had both the Pro-Dry super stock and now the Amsoil. I threw the AFE away because it was passing dirt/dust. I tried everything from greasing the seals to getting another filter and nothing worked. I also added the PSM cold air kit and it dropped my egt's about 50*.

I don't know what my EGTs did because I did the 189 filter, silencer delete, PSM style mod and muffler delete all at the same time.

But yeah, I'd bet AT LEAST 50+ degrees decrease in temps lettin it breathe.

You can buy them directly from Amsoil or from one of their jobbers.

I have 15k miles on the Ea189 and the filter minder is only at 35%. With a stock paper filter it would already be at 80-90%.

Thanks, I just ordered one frm Amsoil. I thought it was a bit pricey at $47.45, Mopar filter was $23.17 from the dealer.

I have been using Napa Gold 2846 OEM style filters for over 70,000 miles without problems. My filter minder has never moved with up to 20,000 miles on a single filter. They are rated at 675cfm and cost $12.49 from fleetfilter.com.

filter minder is useless- only moves if you have an intake/filter that lets enough air pass and pressure build up to cause a venturi effect. works almost as good as 'water in fuel' light.

I tend to agree, the manual says that you should not touch the filter unless the minder is in the red zone. I've pulled mine and had to clean bugs and all sorts of dirt off it but the minder never shows it needs it. I don't trust it.
