Wink Acetone Works for Me

Acetone at the ratio of 1.8 oz per Ten gallons #2 diesel has given me average of 5% increase in fuel economy. Acetone cleans up the smoke, especially if you run red dyed fuel. I have noticed that my cold weather start ups take much less cranking when I have acetone in the tank. I actually make a little more boost, 1-2 psi increase. Acetone, however, only seems to help in colder weather. In the hot summer months, It seems to make little difference on Start Up, Boost, and MPG.

Thumbs down

acetone is going to thin out your fuel really not a good idea ...... you need to be adding lubricity to your fuel otherwise your gonna kill your fuel system FAST..... especially now that we have to run the junky ULSD you really ought to be running a lubricant additive (2 cycle ashless tcw3 oil)to your fuel rather than taking it away.... i dont care how much fuel mileage you increase its not worth it....... that VP44 of yours is about the most sensitive piece of equipment out there and taking lubrication away from it has to be the worst thing in the world....... its like running straight gas in a chainsaw rather than mixed....... yeah it might run like a raped ape, until it all takes a big crap on ya.....

Acetone will cause rapid wear of fuel pump and injector parts.

the fellow talkin about it costing you money to run this is referring to the off road (red) diesel, not the acetone. although both could get expensive. my dads buddy keeps his stock fuel tank filled with green (road) fuel, but his in the bed aux. fill tank full of red. guess which one his motor draws from? hint- he doesn't buy a lot of the green. all the plumbing is well hidden, and has done this on old ford diesels for years. yeah, you can check the tank, sir.

this is also what I used to do in my old 6.9 and my 7.3 fords when I was rodeoing in high school!,, but nowadays, you better believe they are gonna check your truck out head to toe!!!, if they want to get real jerky on you, they can ask to pull fuel right from your line on your fuel filter, or injectors..... NO KIDDING!!!,
Im just thinking this is a not good idea!!

AND, they can just check the tailpipe for residue... no matter where the fuel came from.

That'll make 'em real aggravated when they take the fuel from the filter or check the pipe residue...
