92 d350 stoutness!!

Well I found a mint 92 2wd 350 dually for cheap with very minimal rust.. The only rust is on the roof lip drivers side.. So For the price I am gonna pay for it.. It is worth to fix.. Question is how stout are the front ends, not familiar with the 2wd stuff. I am gonna swap my 2-3 yrd dump setup from my Current dump truck and switch it all over to this one.. It has 155k and I am gettin it for 2500 So ya, looks like the first gen dump will live on.. The box is mint also, if you pull the dually fender flares of, is the box the same as the srw?? This thing is pretty mint, still has the stock exhaust..lol

Is it a club cab? the 1992/3 models have the most stout upgraded control arms dodge put in a 2wd first gen. They are reinforced in spots prone to breakage. My '89 upper broke in a parking lot and I put one from a 1992 on there and guess what? the 1992 arm had a doubler plate where mine had cracked - exact same spot!!

Club cab 1992/3 diesels had the tallest strongest frames of all dodges 1972 - 1993 including C&C and crew cabs...

Yep, in fact, there was a guy in the classifieds selling his truck that had pictures of it with and without the fenders. Check them out there - it wasn't horrible, but a lot of holes to look at.

yea the fenderwell is cut out taller on the dually beds. it'd look stupid without the fenders on a srw truck.

Is this truck an auto or 5spd ?? a 5 speed dump truck would be a beast.

Put Moog ball joints in it when you get it and keep them greased. It'll hold up fine.

Did dodge ever use a straight(2wd) leaf sprung front axle on some of their cab and chassis trucks?

Not on the 1st gens. 2nd gen C&C 2wd's had a tube axle setup like the 4x4's though.

I saw a solid 2wd drive front axle out of a chevy 3500hd state truck in the pick n pull today... real beefy. would be nice retrofitted into a 1st gen dump...

I peered under an '86 D350 and looked at the frame,,, NOT TALL!! I can't believe all the frame differences on these rigs, it was the same size as my 1989 short frame fwd of the front spring perch of the rear axle...

I pulled the 2wd sway bar off that one as well.

Thanks for the info guys, it is a reg cab auto.. Seems real tight while driving.. Gonna pick it up next week.. Kinda bummed on the box.. Thought I might keep it around for a project or something, cause it is nice, no rust at all.. Maybe it would look cool on a lifted srw with some big meats.. I'll throw some pics up when I get it..
