Will 5" exhaust really make more power?
Mine went up 40 hp just adding an AFE Stage 2 air intake and a straight through Magnaflow 4'' exhaust (kitty delete). I would think a 5'' exhaust would offer similar results or maybe better.
Last July, factory stock was 280hp. As of Saturday it was 320.

5" exhaust is just going to cool the exhaust too fast and will make the turbo a hair more laggy. It certainly won't help you until you are making enough power and heat to take advantage of it. If it were me, I'd either straight pipe yours or slap a 4" system.
i installed a 5 inch exhaust off my stock 4 inch downpipe with a reducer and ran it straight back and dumped it under the bed. First off, it was loud as all h*ll, so loud that i couldnt stand it. Rather than getting a muff for it i decided that i wanted a full system so i wouldnt be blowing soot all over the underside of the truck when i start adding power goodies. I went with a silverline turbo back 4 in. After a bit of driving i noticed that i was getting much better responce with the 4 inch and better milage. I had read about the turbo spooling later with the 5 inch and that it was only needed for extremely high HP trucks which also made me want to switch. I can say from my encounters it is deff true. I could tell right away that the truck seemed to have more power with the 4 inch. Hope this helps, Jason
