2nd to 3rd shift problem
The problem is, with o/d off and wot 2nd to 3rd shift is delayed maxed out rpm at 2900 waits then shift to 3rd. If I ease off the fuel pedal a little shifts fine. It has a sweet spot at 1/2 to 3/4 pedal that everything works fine. Before anyone says just do not press the pedal to the floor, the problem I am having is when pulling a load 0f 7000 pounds up hills from a dead stop if i lift to get truck to shift and then get back on the pedal to keep going it drops back into 2nd. Is there any adjustment to make. I am second owner of truck and have only had it a year.

I may be off base here but I've been having a problem with a delayed shift on my 97. It seems that this is a common issue and a problem with the valve body. I was looking online last night and sonnex sells a kit to fix the issue for like $30. I was checking out www.transmissioncenter.com. They have fix it kits for the torque converter draining overnight, "slippage" in reverse, shifting issues and so forth. I was just getting on here to research replacing my valve body to eliminate all these issues at once. It might be worth checking out this site to see if your year has the same issues as my 97.
