Shouldnt have much affect at all if you keep the same size tires. 265/17/16 is same as 265/70/17, same for 285s etc.

Depends what your stock starting size is. Mine was 245*70, not 265*75.

I just did the 265*70*17 swap.. a little power loss, as the engine is lower in the band (tires perform less revolutions per mile, thereby lowering engine rpm) as well as speedo reading being lower than actual.

I believe that a 265/70R16 is NOT the same as a 265/70R17. To figure out the size tire you need you take the first number and multiply it by the fraction of the second (70=.7), divide it by 25.4, multiply it by 2 then add your rim size in inches. A 265/70R16 is 265mmX.7=185.5....divided by 25.4 mm per inch =7.3 times 2 sidewalls = 14.6 inches plus 16 inches equals 30.6" tire diameter. Do that for a few sizes (check the availability and prices at www.tirerack.com) and come up with something you like. Keep in mind that for each one (1) inch increase in tire diameter your truck will be raised only 1/2 inch. I now have 285/75R16 tires and want to move up to 17 inch tires with the 3rd gen brake set so I'm looking at 285/70R17 to come close (32.8 inch diameter versus 32.7). Some tire sizes you might like are VERY expensive so you have to find a compromise. I then change the speedo with my Superchips tuner. Just my 2 cents....

I put 17" wheels on my 95 with 285/70's for the tires. My speedo must have been off before the swap, since I've put them on I've used my buddy's GPS along with a cops radar to verify it's dead on now. Power wise, doesn't seem to have affected it much. I can't comment on MPG's, as I did the injectors and plate within 2 days.
