It was a tug for moving aircraft, I ve seen a few for sale over the years always low miles but probably a lot of idle time.Great parts rig...nose, engine trans rear axle, doors cab etc. I think you could get 4g out of it.Where else can ya find a 15 k cummins?

Low miles at very high rpm. Super low gearing. We had those on the flightline when I was active duty. Most of them were used and abused. They usually only pulled light equipment but at the high rpm they had a lot of miles actually. They were well maintained and would make a good source for engines I guess.

is the truck?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1990-...QQcmdZViewItem

i posted the link about a week ago in a couple other forums

here is a site i found tonight
http://web.govliquidation.com/auction/search/nocache

do a keyword search for diesel and different states you want

I found a couple here in tx for a starting bid of 50 bucks. They have guages for the time it was running. I'm guessing for PM to let them know how long it has been.

I realy would like a surplus 1st gen, not sure bout a plane tower, but I like the price and bruteness in the small package that they are in. I just cant find a good 89-93 cummins for my price range. Which made me start looking at these. The one thing that I dont like is the final gear ratio, 7.17. Red line hauling at 50 mph.

I followed the gov surplus link and "shopped" online. The low mileage models have 3-4 k eng hrs, the higher the miles the lower the hrs it seemed. Does anyone know what dana 80 axle that is? I know its low geared, looks like a dually.with all those hrs and high revs i guess i wouldn't use one for an engine donor.

What if????

I'm not the most knowledgeable of the bunch, but if its actually a Dana 80, couldn't you swap out the rear end gears to get it back to a normal gear range, put a mini flat bed or something on the back and have the ultimate daily driver!?! (But I'm strange like that.)

If I could find one for almost nothing I would be all about a truck like that. Parking in tight parking lots would be a breeze!

4 wheel and off road bought one of these for parts. They said it had a Dana 70 with 7.17 gears, and it was dually width.
