03 Service Manuals

It's my pot and I'll stir it if I want to. If you're not careful, I'll stir your's as well!
Re:03 Service Maunals
I made mine a condition of purchase when I bought my truck and the dealer gave it to me at his cost. Picked it up when I took delivery of my truck.

Re:03 Service Manuals
Are the ones on e-bay a true Dodge manual or the cheaper after market with limited info?
My Dodge manual comes in two books. There is a seperate book just for the electrics. My experience with after market service manuals is that they lack a lot of info and I no longer use them.

Re:03 Service Manuals
Several members purchased the service manual on cd off e-bay and were pleased. However, I looked the guy up on e-bay, he must have violated some kind of copyright thing, he wont answer his mail and e-bay deleted the record of his sales of this cd.

Re:03 Service Manuals
Here's a guy selling a COPY of the OEM manual on eBay. You buy a knife (made in CHINA) and he throws in the CD manual for FREE. Identical to the $90 CD service manual from Tech Authority.

Re:03 Service Manuals
OK, I'll bite, just ordered the rather cheap looking knife. I'll let the group know how good the "free" cd is when it arrives.

I'll probably still want the paper version, but we'll see.

Thanks for all responses

Hehehe....pretty clever. Buy a cheap knife and "sell" it....while throwing in the CD. That way he can't get in trouble for selling copies of copyrighted information. Wonder how many people are actually interested in the knife?

It's easy to find what you need quickly and just print out that portion of the manual. I like it.

Re:03 Service Manuals
He can still get in the exact same trouble for giving away the CD as he would if he was selling them. It can get very expensive if the copyright holder wants to make an example of someone. And with eBay logging it all, there's a good record of how many he has given away.

There seems to be some misconception about the value of a copyrighted piece of work. It is the same as other property. Would you be comfortable if the deal was he'd sell you a cheap knife and throw in a stolen radio along with it?

I didn't say I AGREED with what he's doing...I said it was pretty clever. If I were to buy the CD from DC and then I chose to GIVE a friend a copy of it, then as far as I'm concerned I have the right to do that. However, SELLING copies of it is illegal...and that's basically what he's doing. He's just being sneaky about how he does it.

That's very magnanimous of you Hoss, but you're still breaking the law. You may not copy the original. If you chose to give him the original CD, that's ok....but let the freeloader buy his own!

Re:03 Service Manuals
Actually you are all right & wrong. It is perfectly legal for the original owner to make a backup or for use copy of their legally purchase material as long as they don't resale it. ;D ;D
