New Backwodos Bumpers product! Finally: the Non-Winch Style for 4th Gen Ram!

Hey everyone,

We've been working around the clock trying to stay caught up (and having a tough time). I appreciate all the great customers here! First - let me apologize publicly for the lengthy delay and lead time for orders. You can be sure that I'm working nights and weekends trying to keep up!

Ok - I've had many requests for a non-winch style bumper that closely follows the curve of the truck and has similar styling to the factory bumper. We finally have a prototype!

This particular bumper is not designed to have any bars or grille guard attached to it. It is simply a bumper. According to the orders we've received over the past couple years, and also according to popular magazines and TV, I have noticed a huge decline in big winch bumpers. The emphases now is on sleek bumpers with LOTS of lighting. That's exactly what we have planned for this new style. Here are the main features and options:

-3/16" outer construction and 3/8" inner mounts and gussets, where necessary

-the bumper only sticks out 7/8" further than stock

-increased ground clearance, but not near as much as the typical winch bumper, for a more sleek look that flows well with the 4th gen body

-good locations for 1" shackle mounts, if needed

-(my favorite part) multiple options for LED lighting!

We have a whole new line of LED lighting at incredibly good prices. This bumper lends itself very well to lots of lights. We have single row, double row, and 4-row LED bars in lengths from 4" to 40"

Here are a couple pictures of the prototype. Let me know what you think!

I'm not sure why this one didn't post the first time. Here's another pic:

I really like that design. If I was in the market, I'd probably go for that exact look, with a couple of buckets for lights and maybe a small bar/hoop thing in front of the grille. Great work, I'm not real fond of the big jungle-gym type bumpers.

Thanks! That was the reasoning for the new style bumper - the sleek, thinner bumpers are quickly gaining popularity over the big winch bumpers. Everybody has their own style, though.

Looks good Evan, I want to see what it's look like with some paint on it! I'm still super happy with my deluxe prerunner bumpers, I get ALOT of compliments on them!

Looks good, think it would look just as good with a large hoop around the grill, then two smaller ones around the lights. Need grill protection around here, 60-70 MPH on gravel, you don't stop for deer. Looks way better than the (I think) fab fours the boss put on the 06- not even close to following the body lines.

I love it! I'm not into the big cow catcher bumpers but would like something more robust than the stocker. Throw some lights and shackle mounts into it and I'd buy one for a 3rd gen. I have no need for a winch and like that it doesn't stick out very much further than stock. I would like more lighting without stopping my ability to step on the front bumper and this accomplishes that. Sign me up...

I'd love to see pics of a finished model. I'm interested in something like that for my truck. Most of the stuff on the market now is way too big.

I don't see pricing for that model on the website. What would something like that run if you added light wells for factory fog lights and openings factory tow hooks?

Sorry for the delay, y'all! We've been working late nights and weekends trying to catch up! I'll get some finished pics soon, along with some better LED and HID lighting information. For now, I can say that our prices on LEDs and HIDs are most likely better than anything else you can find on the market. And I know that the website is lacking a lot of recent information. The new one is supposed to be done this month.... but we'll see. I'll try to find the time this week to post some good information on this thread.

I second that! I would be interested in that bumper with spots for factory fog lights and factory tow hooks. Any pics of the finished product?

Wow - it's been a long week and weekend. I'm getting married this weekend, and we just returned from the bachelor party in Vegas! I don't think I'm allowed to discuss pricing in the forum. If I'm wrong, please let me know. Otherwise, PM me, email me, or (fastest) call me. My personal cell number is still listed on the website.... for now! As for your request, HOSS and PaulG, the factory fog lights are no problem, and we do that with many of the current 4th gen bumpers. I see no reason not to make that an option on the new style. As for the tow hooks, I'm afraid those won't work. They actually bolt on to the factory bumper mounts, which we don't reuse. I decided to design the bumpers using 3/8" steel as mounting material instead of the factory stuff. I felt that the stock stuff wasn't near thick enough to provide the strength that most folks are looking for. I hope this helps. I'm still trying to find the time to post pictures of LED and HID options. In the meantime, feel free to contact me for that information.

congrats on the marriage. The prototype looks good evan, anyway to see a photo showing the difference between the winch and non winch setup. from the photos doesn't look like much difference. As to Hoss and PaulG I like the idea of keeping the mopar "M" tow hooks. A thought on how to do that would be to put recessed pockets into the bumper with mounting brackets for the hooks, could also work as an additional mounting location for the bumper, but I haven't seen how the front bumper mounts, so not sure if it would actually work. Also what is the weight difference between the winch and non winch setup?
