Missing tailgate
I went to the movies the other night. And when I got out of the movies at about 10 o'clock at night, I realized that my tailgate was more valuable to someone else besides me. I filed a police report, but that's a lost cause.
Besides a junk yard, does anyone haves good place to get another white tailgate?
Thanks for everyone's help.

Sorry I can't help w/ the tailgate. I thought these were too heavy to be able to walk away with. I know mine seems pretty heavy just closing it. Maybe look on this web page:

There is no G. There is no G. Repeat after me, THERE IS NO G!
Go to the movies next week, look for the other white Dodge and take your tailgate back.
If it were me I'd probably browse CL. If that search is unsat I'd probably look to the nearest pick n pull and try to find a good one.
Oh, put a band clamp on the side with the slot. I read you position the screw pointing down and tighten from underneath. I probably ought to try that. Use a piece of hose or tape or something under the clamp if you don't want it to scratch the paint up.

Advocate of getting the ban button used on him...
I've done the clamp thing but this is also on my list of things to do and fairly cheap too.

Sorry to hear about your tailgate. I wish I would have known about the hose clamp fix years ago. In college mine got jacked several times. We used to steal each others tailgates and mix them up... Put a red one on a blue one etc, all friends trucks of course. The best one we pulled was on a buddy who was leaving before daylight to go home for spring break. He realized once it got light and happened to look in the mirror that there was a purple gate on his new white 2nd gen about 200 miles from school. He had to drive around like that for a week. Ahhh college....

I got the replacement tailgate for my '03 on ebay, had to have it painted (as Garnette Red is kinda' rare). The guy I got it from was kind of shady, made me wonder if he found the tailgate in the parking lot of a movie theater.

Quick search on my local CL only shows one dodge tailgate and it is white but for a 2010.
Do the newer ones still come off so easily?

The way to get one on Craigslist is to advertise you are looking for one!!!
The crooks will see your ad, go swipe one from a movie theater parking lot and call you to say they have EXACTLY what you need!
Ever see all the 'new take-off tires' on there??? Yep, my spare went missing while parked in Chicago. A crook can drop a spare on a Dodge or a Chevy in under ten seconds if it's not locked. At $75 each, he can make good money quick.
