Well, the motor gave out.

Never used a drop of oil till it died.

RIP 904,313 miles.

Got the hours from the computer.

Hours on the old engine.. 17,002

Miles 904,313

Idle Hours 995.267

Idle Gallons used 974.21

Total fuel burned by truck 60,118.04 gallons.

I do not believe the gallons to be accurate after all, they come from the overhead computer source.

The mechanic advised it was a rod. It was deep in the bottom of the motor. Not high pitched like an injector.

66 mph and bang it happened. No missing, just smoke and the noise.

Very interesting. Sorry to hear about your problem but that's an impressive amount of miles and every one of them was earned working hard hauling those campers. Interesting that the motor didn't use any oil and just let go not really showing any signs of being worn out.

If you have a Cummins with over 200,000 miles, please post the following:

1. Year of truck
2. Current Mileage
3. Mechanical Repairs to engine only if any?(Exclude overhaul/rebuilds please)
4. Truck used for?

1. 2006 2500 2wd Auto Quad SWB

2. 225k

3. Owner#1 had #4 Injector line replaced at about 85k. All else about engine itself is as it left in 2006, shy of routine maintenance. Oil changed every 6k and fuel filter every other oil change. Has had a band replacement in the transmission and an a/c compressor in the last 20k.

4. truck is used primarly for commuting, and had 180k of that mileage put on by owner #1 in the first 4 years of the trucks life. After that, it was relegated to towing a travel trailer part time...
