Talking Lift Pump 05 1 Ton

How many miles are people getting out of the 3rd Gen Lift pumps? Also if it fails will it damage anything like the 2nd Gen (read-kill a VP44)?

The lift pumps on the 05 and up were in the tank, no major issues with them failing. Best advice is to get a fuel pressure gauge.

As far as I know, the factory in tank pumps were not a flow through design, meaning if they fail, they severely restrict the fuel flow to the CP3. The reduced fuel flow causes more heat, as the CP3 is fuel cooled.

So, yes, it can damage the CP3, but with the stock pump, it is a little more apparent when it goes.

Some day I will fill it with gauges like my older trucks, Maybe a Quadzillla like on my 01. What fuel psi does the 05 run? I have not gotten the Dodge Books yet but I should as it is now 6 years old.

On mine...fuel pressure at idle is 9-10psi; full load, ~5psi.
