another fix for a auto trans on 2001 dodge ram with cummings diesel the problem is shifting rapidly back and forth between 2nd and 3rd and 3rd and overdrive when speed it just maintained at 30-35 and 40 and 45.a dealer shop made 3 attempts on correcting problem,replacing the apps sensor and other trys but failed to fix the problen i then was told by another mech that the problem is a converter lockup that is caused by a faulty ground wire on the accelerator pedal position sensor ---apps sensor--- the apps sensor is located on front left of engine in front and left of fuel filter. this ground wire replacement solved my problem. hope it helps others.from GUY1996

i dont know what post the new ground wire was hooked to but the wire was run from the bottom of apps sensor cover and grounded. to frame just in front of left battery. i did not see the mech do the work but was told that he did not remove the existing ground wire just added a new one. i later checked finding where the new wire was placed on frame with existing screw i am not sure how the apps cover is removed i only found on screw on top of cover and the cover is open on bottom it appears that the plastic cover just slides down over the apps sensor.sorry i could not offer futher imfo. from GUY1996
