Campain Lift Pump Kit Breakdown- Part Number Questions
I am thinking I will be changing my lift pump this weekend. Vuclan Mechanical FP from Geno’s will be in tomorrow and I will verify fuel pressure. Seems like my foot slips of accelerator while driving down highway, about once every 1,000 mi. I am also looking into APPS (already did the reset with no luck). I have gotten a CEL twice with no real codes, 0500, 1693, 1694; light goes away after restart. Anyways, I did some investigation here and decided to go with Campain Fuel Kit, P/N 4090046. Cummins thought they had the kit ($172!!!) but couldn’t find it on the shelves. Kit breakdown is as follows:
3164754- 1 Electrical Cable
3408705- 1 Pressure Switch
3963983- 6 Sealing Washer
4918413- 1 Banjo Connector Screw
4943048- 1 Fuel Transfer Pump
They did not have all of the components of the kit since it was obsolete but convinced me that all I really needed was the fuel transfer pump. They charged me $162 for pump. Much more than I had thought but couldn’t find cheaper in Houston area, Freightliner also claims to have the kit for about $25 more.
Will this fuel pump alone act as a direct replacement for my truck or do I need some of the other parts in the kit? I can always return it and go to Freightliner. If I find that I don’t need a fuel pump, I will always have one available in the garage. Truck is stock and will likely remain so.

Pump is same
I was fortunate to purchase a couple of these kits for $48 each and just installed the pump and sealing washers last month works fine (for a crummy Carter pump). Some members were able to call other Cummins distributors and locate the obsolete kit.

I was able to locate two here in Maryland and still have one for spare. I guess I will be looking to see if I can get anymore. Sounds like they are getting hard to find.
