yes its night and day difference, I lock it up in overdrive while crusing down the highway and it will drop my rpms 300 or so. I'm hopin to see some better mileage once the excitement wears off, which it should.

Yes Terry it sure is a hoot now, let me know if you still want my ol 518, it was still goin when i pulled it and I was told by the guy that built this rh that all you gotta do is change the valve body and input shaft to make a lockup converter work with it so it'd basically be a 47rh if you wanted to go that route.

I need to find some time to get a video of the ol truck. A lot of people that rode in my truck before and have now ask if my lockup switch is my nos switch from the difference it made

The stock intermediate shaft will not hold close to 800 hp especially if your pulling and drag racing. Did the builder put a new intermediate shaft in or did he reuse the one from the core it was built from?

Is your valve body set up so you can lock up the converter in all forward gears? Allowing the trans to shift while have the converter locked up is when your going to start hurting things.

I picked up a 47RH last month, but still need to get a 2nd GEN adapter plate and stater. Hoping to pull off this swap pretty soon, but may not be for a while since I have how many some odd other projects to get to.

I guess this tranny was too much fun. Haven't even had it a week and blew my HE351cw Turbo up on Thursday. Started smoking like crazy and lost boost, I thought it was a boot til I popped the hood and saw oil dripping down the downpipe. I pulled the intake off and there's about an inch of play and the wheel is toast. I parked it and haven't touched it since. I could hit 50 lbs with the new trans when I could only hit 40 before. Although I didn't hit it much at all or hot rod much. I let a guy borrow my Turbo while my truck was down and I'm wonderin if that took its toll. I wanted to get a 66 or 75mm for this summer so I may just have to go that route although I would like something to get by for now and I loved that lil he351.

It has the stock intermediate and output shafts. It is setup to lock 2nd through OD and will do locked shifts. He said he can get it to lock in 1st with more valve body work but it just ends up breaking stuff. I went with the billet input and flexplate for pulling and it just makes me feel better when I do hit that little tempting lockup switch. 4wd boosted launches are usually the hardest on things though, more so than locked shifts I think.

Don't wait to do the 47rh swap. Get the parts and get it in, its life-changing. I wish I woulda done mine a long time ago!

oh yes the power bug bit me a long time ago haha and its gotten worse since. I think I already got my hands on another HE351 for now, it just needs a rebuild kit, then I'll probably put my housings off my bad turbo on it because I already ported the wastegate hole on it.

I've had mine in for over a year and about ~6-8,000 miles. Mine was a recent rebuild(stockish), but found locally in a junkyard. So the price was good.
It's very nice and acceleration once it locks up is nice. With the 518 I felt like it was complete slush box through all gears with the TC. Much improved with the RH47. I like the fact they have 200% oil cooler flow locked up- I'm sure that will equate to better trans life.

I really like mine. Alot easier to drive around in and much nicer to drive down the track if one so desires. Having control of lock up and OD helps alot towing too.

Thanks Guys, I've been waiting till I got some good feedback about that transmission after using it for a year. I'm going to look around and find one to rebuild.

Loving it. Its held everything I've thrown at it including 5 or 6 truck pulls this summer. I would never go back to the 518 after having lockup
