North Texas DTR #8 April Thread
Venting
here is my new gripe, My guaranteed internship this summer and job after i graduate has all gone out the window, apparently the school made promises they can't back up. . . So the resume is going out soon and i will hopefully end up in west Texas area.
been a real rough last 36 hours for me. .
the plan was July 2010 after completion of an optional international internship. . . that has fallen through. .
so i will leave here in May and take an on-line English class after that i will have a "certificate in wind energy technology" (if i do not get the boot from the program, i have said some harsh things) that should get a foot in the door and a slightly slower start than what i had planned with the associates degree.
SO realistically if i would have not come to school and just jumped into wind industry it would have benefited me a lot more than my current plan. and i would have saved about 11k . . .

^^^ my point from that is, hands on experience out weighs the heck out of internet learning and minimal lab experience.
So do they give any reason they are not guaranteeing what they promised? Do you have any legal recourse? Was there a contract? Is any of this related to the recession?
Im sure once you get your foot in the door somewhere, you will catch on quick and move right up. We need some wind power guys like you to keep the tree huggers happy.

And Dallas Police are hiring like crazy if you ever want to consider that. I think they are running 5 academy classes this year. (pay you while you train)
Gotta have 45 semester hours of college, minimum, but it doesn't matter in what.

I have a bachelors degree. They pay a little bit extra ($100 a month
..........been the same since 1973) if you have one but you have to have 45hrs in anything to be hired.......or, now, have 4 years military with an honorable discharge. Alot of the recruits that have prior military seem very sharp and adapt well to field training. (im an FTO, by the way)In today's economy.........I feel extremely blessed to have my job.

Trite, I know. But, just hoping you don't dwell too long on the bad stuff others put in your way!
RJ.
Ya I am sorry to here that Max! I am not sure about my school backing themselfs up on the whole job thing either! Its costing me right at 10,000 every 3 months!! I a probaly going to do 15 months!! Not to mention how high rent and living and fuel is here also!!
I actually got a step raise last month.

And the whole Moats traffic stop thing is finally dying down now from the international media blitz............
