Moving to Texas

I am moving to Bertram, Tx in June and got some questions? How expensive are tags in Tx and do I have to get my truck inspected? Moving because fiancee' is taking a veternarian position there and want to know what kind of money I am going to need. If you here anybody hiring I got to find a job somewhere between Killeen and Austin. Been farming for the last couple years while she was in college and hope to stay in some type of Agricultural job but anything will do for now.
thanks,
Russ

registration cost varies from county to county and yes, you will have to get your truck inspected. should be able to do both for under a $100. as far as work goes, I don't know.

Welcome to Texas.

There a lot of farms east of the Killeen/Austin area and ranches to the west. Also, a lot of construction in that area. A lot different than Mississippi, but one of the best parts of the state.

Well that doesn't sound bad. Can't wait to get out there and drive around. Hard to find job when you don't know what's there. Trying to get a job teaching ag at a few high schools.

There's not much in Bertram but Burnet ( rhymes with dern it - pronounced burn it ) is a nice little town about 10 miles west and Marble Falls is 10 miles south of Burnet. The lakes are close, good recreation and fishing. Housing should be much cheaper than Austin area. I think you will enjoy that area.
