Question Who has installed 2299 Ride-Rites

I'm trying to get mine done but I'm having trouble with the upper bracket on the driver side. It's hitting the brake line bracket and won't sit flush (the two ears that are supose to hit the inside of the frame, just the one is hitting the brake line bracket). Has anyone had this problem? I really hate to take a grinder to my new truck!

Had them on my old 2004 2WD. I don't remember them having and clearence issues/obstruction with the brake lines. Don't want to sound like a smart a$$ but are the brakets on the right side of the truck? I would have to get under the truck and look again to be of more help. I'll do it tomorrow if nobody else is able to help tonight. It's dark outside and i'm scared.

I know what you are talking about. I had them installed on my 03 then removed them to reinstall on my 06. There is indeed a brake line bracket in the way on the driver's side on the 06. What I noticed is the air bag mounting bracket tab hit the fat part of the brake line bracket. I took a plasma cutter and trimmed the mounting bracket tab now it just rests on the thin part of the brakeline bracket. It works just fine. Hope this helps.

Yep, that is exactly the problem. I was thinking of getting a die grinder and trimming it down. In the mean time I will see what I can get done at Firestone to have them alter there bracket. Did you have any trouble wedging the bottom piece between the spring and U-bolt, mine is real tight and might need a small hammer to get it in place.
What about the bottom bolt that holds the bag to the bottom bracket, how the heck are you supose to tightin that bolt after it's in?

The die grinder should do the job. As far as wedging the bottom piece between the spring pack and the u-bolt I have done the following: Loosen the inside u-bolt, insert the bottom plate, re-torque the inside u-bolt. Regarding the bottom bolt: I assembled the bag to the bottom bracket before setting it in place on the axle.

So in a nutshell:

1. Assemble bag to bottom plate
2. Install upper plate on frame mounts
3. Loosen inide u-bolt on leaf spring pack
4. Slide bag and bottom bracket into place on axle (collapse the bag and put the threaded portion through the correct hole in the top bracket)
5. Install the u-bolt on the bottom bracket and tighten(make sure the bracket is against the leaf spring pack)
6. Tighten the inside ubolt on the leaf spring pack.
7. Install the retaining nut that holds the bag to the top bracket.
8. Install the air lines

I don't think I missed anything. You'll enjoy them once you have 'em installed.

Alright, thanks for the info. I will be using this next week when I try again.

Regarding the bottom bolt again, I had it assembled but it says to keep it hand tight so you can fit it for the right hole and line it up. The problem I see is getting it tight after it's sitting on the axle. Did you line it all up and then take it out and tighten it?

Thanks,

Brody

Line it up, mark it with something then take it out and tighten it. You got it.
