What do you think, 17mpg TOWING with a 700+hp big block?
I own a 98 Chevy 3500 excab 4x4 with the 7.4L vortec and on a very good day can make 11mpg, throw a trailer behind it with 10,000 lbs. and it drops to 6-7mpg. I know this is normal because I also own a 99 Chevy 3500 crewcab with the same motor and it actually gets about 1-2 mpg less than my 98. So I'd have to agree with everyone else about it being BS.
Has anyone thought to put a pencil to this guys math .......if that’s "really" his dyno sheet...it has his fuel consumption right there on the paper...you can kinda get an idea of his engines consumption manor? I mean 4x4 van sitting on pretty good size rubber....lifted....trailer....where are we now say your gonna need about 325 hp w/ 565 Tq to stay close to the ford? Same rating as a stock p.s.? Just guessing here guys so look at the dyno sheet and we see well he is going to be over 3000 rpms? Right? lets just use the bsfc number to keep it real easy this number is the weight of (gas in this guys case) per hour per 1hp the engine makes so this guys down in the low fours here ....first he better know what he is doing cause that’s really really lean and he could burn it up....so at 325hp/0.4= 812.5# of gas in a hour divide that by the weight of a gallon of gas? 6.08# this is 812.5#/6.08#= 133.6 gallons in an hour? Ok ok so we will go to 200 hp /0.4= 500#/6.08 = 82 gallons! ok wait one more funny here too to burn even 500# of gas in 1 hour at 13.1 ratio(what gas motors need) get this he would have consumed lets see 500#x13= 6500 # of air! That’s about lets see dry air is .07# per cubic foot so 6500/.07= 92857cubic feet in a hour! Ok ok 92857/60= 1547cfm that’s one helluva intake for a normally aspirated engine
I don’t doubt the engine is fun but he only got 17mpg cause his brother towed his truck 2/3 the way back when it broke down!

My dad had a 93 2500 4x4 reg cab longbed 5 speed 350 V8 Chevrolet before he bought his dodge. It was a great truck, and ran okay, but 15mpg was about the best he ever got(unloaded). He gets 20mpg consistently in his CTD in the summer

I can't believe thats if I don't drive my truck to hard I can sweeze about 22 mpg out of mine. Thats up from the 20mpg prior the twins and big injectors. My duramax buddy here said that he sweezes out 16 mpg, with a fueling box on it. A gas jobby forget it, its just bs. Every gas truck I've ever drove would only get around 300miles(20 gallons) to a tank of fuel, empty. I average over 450-500miles to a tank just normal city driving and my foot is real heavy....
Maybe he converted gear ratios from say 3.08 to the 4.10 he has now. So his speedo reads 75 when he is doing 45. And with that he figures he went 400 miles while actually only going 250 or so. Maybe he was accurate with his numbers but he didnt go as far as he thought......
A few years ago me and some guys from work went camping/fishing. I had my 73 chevy w/454 and fifth wheel. My buddy had a brand new motorhome w/ford v10. I had my truck hammered the whole way just to keep up with him. I hand calculated my milage later.....3mpg

Those Caddy engines are pretty torquey.
When I was growing up, a local guy swapped a Caddy 500 into a '70 Torino GT.
It would lay rubber for a block and only stop when he lifted!
