What can I do for my brakes?
OK here is some data, my 3500 SB SRW weighs in at 7540 with 5VR hitch (200-300lbs) and a full tank of fuel. You can also sutract let's say another 100lbs for other stuff.
Now just for GRINS and GIGGLES let's say the truck weighs 7klbs as is. If you have a LONG bed then add another 400lbs to that.
Payload on the SRW SB is 3000lbs, thus no matter how you say it HE is still WAAAAAAAAAAAY over weight. Oh, did I forget add another lets say 500lbs for 4 passengers.
Do I need to say anymore
GET a BIGGER truck

There is no doubt Viper is over weight and needs some mechanical parts to help him out maybe even a bigger truck. The part that bothers me is the key statement he burned out a set of brakes in X amount of miles. I see a serious problem with driving technique and I am sorry Viper but it is true. With your signature you have managed to increase the performance of the truck to haul a big load faster or continously at higher speeds. The scariest growing trend here is the ability to move all this weight faster without any previous experience and improved driving skills. Your brakes were cooked due to ascending hills way to fast for load and not pre-planning any stops ahead of you. Defensive driving is a skill most well seasoned professional truck drivers know that saves on brakes and lives. Defensive driving allows the ability to analyze situations and stopping/SLOWING requirements before panic braking is needed. High pressure brake applications will over heat and wear stress brakes and all the updated equipment in the world won't prevent poor brake life enough to make this situation safe. Sorry again Viper but I know you were enjoying the new wealth of power available but not taking the time to understand the operating the vehicle at it's absolute maximum and your skills. This reply is going to make a lot of people here defensive but statistics in RV MVI's (motor vehicle incidents) show we have updated our power but not our driving skills or our understanding of abusing specifications on equipment. Viper please do not take this personally but analyze the information here and improve from it, it saves lifes yours included. PK
