TW for a Car Hauler

I recently purchased a 2006 2500 Mega Cab 4x4....

I tow a 18' Car trailer that weighs 2,000 pounds, with a Jeep on top around 4,300 lbs.

Question for you is..... I towed this past weekend with the "normal" positioning that I have used when I towed with my wifes '06 Ford f150 SuperCrew. Much to my surprise the dodge was very bouncy..... Hit a bump in the road, bridge grooves, man that thing would just float like an old lincoln... What gives? Do I need to run the jeep even more forward because of different spring weights between the trucks? Truck only has 12,000 miles on her, so I wouldn't think shocks would be an issue. The truck appears to show the weight when viewed from the side. However, I can stradle the tounqe of the trailer and lift up and down causing the rear of the truck to move say maybe a 1/2 inch in either direction, am I not running heavy enough?.... Any good ideas on how to guesstimate the TW for that set-up to get me in the right percentage range.... I also am no where near the large overload spring on the bottom of the leaf pack... say 1"..

Any ideas or suggestions would be great.....

Yes, put more tounge weight on her. I know with my backhoe 8" forward or backward makes a noticable feel in the ride. That is towing with a pintle hook set up.

Here's what I found...

I have a 24' enclosed car hauler. With car it's about 7800-8000lbs. I bought a Sherline tounge scale and checked it. It's right at 800 lbs. This puts the springs about 3/4" from the bottom overload leaf and about 1/2" from the top overloads to the frame pads (mine is a 3500). I even hauled a golf cart (400-500 lbs?) in the front of the trailer along with the car once and it still didn't hit the overloads. The truck rides very nice on smooth roads but hitting dips or going over bridges the truck bounces too much, mostly the front. I'm thinking of going with Bilstein shocks.
