Trailer brakes...
Re:Trailer brakes...
that was the best i dea, putting that plug under the dash. i hate my brake controller in the truck in 20 mins. i used the factory dash screw to mount the bracket. it would have KILLED me to drill holes into the dash.
Re:Trailer brakes...
From the wiring diagrams the factory trailer tow wiring contains relays for lighting circuits to the trailer. The after market add-on wiring does not have relays for lighting circuits.

Hoss, if you would like the wiring diagrams send me a message and I'll get them to you.

When I had my Prodigy hooked up, the installer threw away the pigtail in the glove box and used the one with the Prodigy, said the Dodge one was not as good.

I'm confused, ???
Granted electrical is not my strong point but how was the Prodigy harness better than the Dodge one??
It's just wire & a weatherpak plugin, did the Prodigy harness have better wire or what???
I had my controller taken from my 97 Dakota & installed in my 03 Ram, I had all kinds of problems with it in the Dakota, it didn't have a plug in for the controller & they had to wire the whole thing including the 7 pin connector.
Make sure if you have to have the whole thing wired that whoever does it knows what they're doing, mine worked intermittantly, the 12 volt feed didn't work, etc (even after 3 trips to have them fix it) & finally the whole harness shorted out.
It turns out when they wired it up & rreplaced the spare tire they got the wires under the spare & it eventually shorted out.
Ask around before deciding on who to have wire you up.
make sure they know what they're doing.

Re:Trailer brakes...
The connector that you can buy with the Prodigy is already terminated at both ends for a plug & unplug at both ends. It was heavier gage wire and no splicing required at all. The dodge cable has one end for the connector and bare wires on the other. It was worth the 8 bucks at RJ's.
