What kind of trailer is it? I had a 25' Wildwood and it swayed also. I got rid of the trailer in favor of something a little more stable. Hated that trailer, kept it a total of three months.

Good to know. But I don't think I'll ignore the stability issues I've had with SRW's compared to DRW's -- towing the same trailers over the same roads in the same conditions using the same style of driving.

Forget the friction type anti sway devices and go with a reese dual cam load equalizer type. I found a great mprovement when I installed my retrofit unit to my existing equalizer bars. I also think you should use them even on a lighter trailer such as yours. When control is a factor, you can hardly overkill. I have also heard of equalizers failing because of too much pressure on the bars, so don't overdo those chains, either. Soft tire sidewalls will also cause sway, so go with real truck tires designed for towing and hauling. Above all, balance that load for max tongue weight. Good luck. Charlie.

I tow a little over this (about 7600-7800) I don't get much sway, but do "buck" or lunge a bit when changing grades. (like going into a dip from downhill to uphill)? I'm not a travel trailer though, I am an equipment trailer.
I'm confused how the WD hitch helps with sway?
I can tell you that a tandem dump trailer improperly loaded took me for the ride of my life. This thing streeeeetched back and forth till I reached down and grabbed the controller and locked em up. If there had been cars beside me they would have been taken care of by my insurance company.
Had bystanders looking ad pointing as I flung topsoil all over the highway. Just my experience with not enough tounge weight and how that can nearly kill you and your passenger.

That is how a WD hitch can help. Assuming it is loaded right a WD hitch can change the weight on the tounge. The problem is some people jack them up way to much and take too much weight off the tongue.

I have a 24' toyhauler that is in the 8K lb range when loaded and with the WD and sway bar I have not had problems. That is even with tires that were low on air.

I would check the trailer. I had a nice High/Low that never felt good. it always swayed. one day it came off going down a 6% grade at 55mpg, Not Fun. anyway a used trailer shop bought the totaled trailer and they told me the axels were installed improper from the fact. I've had 4 other trailers since that are heavier, longer and taller. they all towed and still tow great. if every thing is set up right you really should not notice the trailer behind you except for the weight.

more than likely its not enough tongue weight. centered or to the rear will cause the puppy dog swing
