A guy around here has a 3500 Dodge one with 3.9 Cummins and Allison.

The exhaust exits in front of the right front tire, some kind of safety regulation.

I did not know this and was standing over the right front corner, looking under the hood, when he cranked it up; it nearly blew my drawers over my head and filled my boot full of black smoke.

That is a CJ 10 front clip assembly......none were ever sold in North America....they were export only.

They used short little trucks like that taking trailers up onto the ferry going over to Newfoundland. I kept waiting for the thing to end up on its back with the front wheels in the air.

When I was in Ak the Elmendorf AFB had second gen dodge cummins setups like the others shown. they won't do more than 25-30 mph. we use them to pull age like was said prior, but I have seen one pulling an F-16 before. the one in the middle of Shovelhead's pics is used to tow small aircraft. they have perkins 4 cyl turbodiesels in them and weigh about 18000#.

That ford is what we AF guys refver to as a bobtail. We use it pull AGE eq., Munitions on trailers.....very heavy loads with 2K bombs...... and to tow A/C.

We use dodge 2nd gens with 12 V 5.9s and auto trans, fords with 7.3s and some newwer Fords with 6.0s....

The dodge bobtails are 2500's and the fords are f-350's. They turn very sharp and get up to max speed pretty quick. 30-35 governed......

I drive them all the time..they are stripped IE no radio AC power windows or locks or anything, but can be bought from DRMO sometimes for very god prices.

Take care guys, ZACK

It's an airport baggage tug. Not used for towing airplanes, only bag carts.
