Where do I look for a cowboy sleeper cab?

Not sure is this belongs here or in OTHER but since it's sleeper/RV related, I'll start here.

I'm sure that this may go by different names but I'm trying to figure out where to look for a short sleeper topper to go on my pickup bed - like the one here that was on e-bay before the seller canceled the auction and sold it early (without a buy-it-now).

Can somebody give me a brand or trade name to look for? I'm not having any luck finding one (except this one).

I picked up one for my truck a few months ago. I posted a similar questions about 6 months ago. From what I have been told by a few people they don't make them anymore. The company who made mine is triglas out of daleville, AL. Can't find much online about them. I won mine on ebay and drove from chicago to Ohio to pick it up. Ebays a good source. they are few and far between. I paid 300 for mine. Check out my Profile I have some pics of it.

I have a black one, sitting in a building, under a bunch of other stuff.

I had completely forgotten about it, until I saw that picture.

Mine looks to be deeper, but maybe not hardly so tall as that one.

It doesn't have the windows above the cab, but it has the same shape.

I might sell it or trade it; like I said, I hadn't thought about it in years.

Then, again, I might put it back on something.

Back in the early eighties, there was a manufacturer of them in the next town over.

They made the sleepers in several different sizes/configurations, truck toppers, those fiber-glass calf hutches you see around dairy barns, igloo-shaped dog-houses, and, of all things, shower-stalls and bath-tubs.

Believe it or not, the company went busted and is no longer in business.

his website is down Vick Mckinley built mine

he specializes in total conversion but I am sure he could do just the topper.

phone number

806-946-6428

Mckinley Conversions

check out my gallery for pics of the 8 passenger ram

his work may be a little more than just the fiberglass topper you were looking for but it is first class, for my conversion it was truly a bargain

my conversion is double walled tig welded aluminum

Check this out. Just what you are looking for with no bids yet. Pickup Sleeper on e-bay I hope the link works. If not it is item 160011557675 on e-bay. Good luck. I think they would be nice but wouldn't work to good with my cross-bed tool box.

I had one on a 91 single cab, I used that thing like my back seat now( jackets, boxes, etc) I only wished when I had it that it went all the way to the bottom of the bed and could be used as a back seat. My horseshoer has the truck now and put exactly what I wanted for a sleeper/camper. The only thing better to do on that is to cut the back of the cab and the front of the sleeper and make an actual back seat.

Thanks. I'll look into that one.

I knew I could count on DTR to point me in the right direction.

What do you plan on using this for ? It may not meet DOT specs for a sleeper berth .

That would only apply if he is keeping a log-book and logging sleeper-berth time in the log-book.

I am not sure if DOT requires a minimum size mattress, but I do know that to qualify as a sleeper-berth, it must have an outside access door.

If this is for personal use, DOT rules (actually Surface Transportation Board rules---the STB replaced the now-defunct Interstate Commerce Commission) do not apply.

Try these links: http://www.cowtownsleepers.com/sleepers.html. I bought mine on an e-Bay autction.

Now that I have it I'm trying to figure out how to connect the eliptical shaped sleeper opening to the rear window opening of our Dodges. The rear window of our dodges have corners at the right and left hand bottom.

Anyone know how to adapt the rear window shape to fit the accordian boot?

You stated that your sleeper came from an E-bay auction, so I am assuming that you got it second-hand.

The front of these sleepers is cut to fit the exact shape of the rear window opening of the truck they are intended for; otherwise, the boot will not fit.

You need to remove the boot from the sleeper.

Then, cut the exact shape of your rear-window opening in the front of the sleeper; you may need to fill in places that are cut too large.
