Nova Scotia ferry question.

Has anyone ever taken the "Cat" from Bar Harbour, ME to Yarmouth, NS? MY wife and I are planning a trip, and I was wondering how well they take care of your vehicle on the ship, if they cram them side by side, etc. Never taken any kind of ferry, so I don't know what to expect. I understand this thing traverses the channel in under 3 hours.

Re:Nova Scotia ferry question.

Any I have been on are packed pretty good...an RV will get put in with the semi's and as I recall...on first, off last. No big deal though. Some of the ferry's have massive tie downs for the vehicles when the sea gets real rough.

No problemo...have fun.

;D

Re:Nova Scotia ferry question.

Scotty's absolutely right. Having spent many years living & travelling in the NorthWest, I've been on many ferries, in B.C., & Wash.; in fresh water, and salt; smaller boats, and good sized ships. All will pack you in like sardines in a can, all have guides showing you where to park, and where to stop. Never had, or seen, a problem. Generally just the front and rear vehicles will be anchored, usually with blocks. Only times I've ever seen tie downs, is when it's really rough. Then, they'll give more space between vehicles, too. Long distance ships, like the Seattle, or Vancouver to Alaska ones, I can't speak for. Many years ago, I rode the ferry from New
Brunswick to Nova Scotia, going to basic training in Cornwallis, N.S. If you're gonna be in that area, try to make a point of watching the tidal bore coming in. Really worth the time and effort. Also rode the old single car diesel railway tram to Halifax...........going up the center of the province at dawn is a great experience. Good Luck, and have a good trip. Wish I was there, too. Envious Lar. ;D ;D
