Installing Brakesmart Extension Cable

I installed my Brakesmart on my '06 a while back and am not 100% thrilled with the location of the head unit. Unfortunately due to the length of the wires I can't mount it where I want it. It did come with an extension but you have to cut one of the plugs and solder the extension on.

I'm sure it's ok to do but has anybody done this and am I risking the performance of the unit?

TIA

I guess I could do that but I'm sure if they make an extension they consider it ok to use.

I was hoping to get any real world experience and/or opinions.

I haven't done it, but as long as you do good soldered connections protected by heat shrink tubing I would think you would be fine...
