how to prevent dry rot on exterior RV plastic?

a buddy has a big RV, and his kids have outgrown it,

so he lets me use it as a backyard motel for family get togethers, and I usually get to catch up all the maintenance on it.

i noticed ALL his outside plastic stuff is breaking & shattering:
-door hold opens
-fittings
-covers
-latches.

just about everything.

we are thinking we wanna take it in to get it cleaned professionally (get mold off awnings & clean top)

and then where can I buy new parts (he can't seem to find the right door prop rods)

and what do i put on them, that wont' come off in storage, say 4~5 months at a time?

Baby oil, armor all, tire foam...all that will drain off, or wash off

vaseline?

found a thread on here about dry rot, mentioned 303 protectant?
said it was $$.

what do you guys recommend?

303 aerospace. I use it on the roof, plastic, tires and other stuff at home and on my vehicles. Go to their website, it has great info, I buy the gallon size from Amazon. Good luck.

Keep it under a cover, and it will last a long time. The Sun dries out & wrecks more things than any other element here in the south.

I like the paint idea. Many of the items are now being made from stainless steel, they are more money but will last a lifetime.
