Holes in bed from B&W

The holes that were drilled into the bed of my truck from the B&W GN hitch are now starting to rust around the edges. Is this a long term concern? Any tricks that you guys are doing to keep the rust from progressing?

Love the GN from B&W by the way.

Thanks for any input.

When we installed mine, we put some brush on under coating around the holes. Did the same thing when we installed the plug socket in the bed.

There are some brush on rust converters that you can find at auto parts stores that chemically change the rust and prevent it from spreading. I had a two inch rust spot on the wheel well of a Dakota I owned prior to my CTD to which I applied the rust converter. Three years later at trade in time the spot had not progressed at all or changed in any way. The only drawback is that the rust changes to a black oxide of some sort. But the converter solution it is paint-able once applied to match the rest of your body if you so desire. One I have seen mentioned on several forums is Por 15. I can't remember the one that I used, I threw it out when I moved a few years back.

Yeah, I paint the edges when I install one.

It wouldn't be too bad to drop the center section down so you can get in there with a die grinder and wire brush to be sure to get all the rust off, then paint it.

With any hitch like that, it isn't a bad idea to use it for a while to let things settle in, then one at a time remove each nut and apply red locktite and retorque.
