OK i was not wanting to start a fight on this subject most times that i haul with another persons trailer is just becuase there rig is down or its for a friend of a friends wife so if any thing happend it would not be a major deal as for customers that i haul i would never haul in there trailer because i dont know the maintance that they keep. and as for the whole differnt ball game i am assuming that you have ever handled a horse? there unpredicitable thats all i will say on that and as for the 06 in a pellot gun its a metaphor for big explosion and thats all

I dont feel the need to verify myself to you at this point. Maybe in the future, I'll tell you a story or two.....or maybe not. Since you're gonna crawfish out of your earlier statement of the "maintenance" excuse, I would still like to know what you mean by the whole different ballgame. That meant...? As opposed to cattle, freight, donkeys, goats.......what? I'll grant you, if you been hauling any of the last two, then you got experience on me Any broke horse aint all that tough, or unpredictable, IF you're paying attention and thinking AHEAD to what COULD happen. "Fluffy" wouldnt be considered unpredictable if he's been foundered so bad he can hardly stand, arthritis 'til he cant walk, and aint got the energy to get out of his own way. Now, you walk him (if you go far enough) and dont pay attention you'll eventually put your foot down where he is gonna put his, and he'll hurt ya too. Is that unpredictable behavior? Or attention deficit or your part? Think about it.

m3rd,
If you know the right people or have the right connections, you could land a pretty good part time job. I am fortunate in that field. I supply the truck, she supplies the 38 ft Sundowner 4 horse head to head trailer and the well trained horses. Once a week, I haul for her. Horses are very well mannered. It's short distance and she pays waiting time also. Usually a 6 hr day. Can't beat it!
Good luck to you. ( hint - english is the clue; dressage,hunter/jumper,eventing )
Andy

Once again, as the owner of a boarding and training stable with 50 horses on hand, and as the former owner of a horse transport company with two 8 horse trailers, if you are not a very experienced horseman, stay the hell away unless you want to hurt yourself or bring a large lawsuit against yourself. It is not nearly as easy as some earlier posters would like you to believe. I have loaded and hauled thousands of different horses from coast to coast, and I still find myself in a dangerous or uncomfortable situation from time to time. There are much easier and less problematic ways to make a buck. And as far as the hunter/jumper/dressage people go, they are the hardest to deal with. I have first hand knowledge of this because that is my wife and my mothers area of expertise. The horses are hard enough to deal with but nothing made me more nervous when hauling 8 hunter's behind me than thinking about dealing with their owners. The money made is not worth the liability for a newby horseman. If you absolutely insist on doing this, go get a job as a sidekick for a driver running a 15-horse tractor trailer rig and he will teach you the ropes for a year or two until you learn about these unpredictable creatures. I am not trying to be smart, or a jerk about this, but I don't think people realize the liability involved with a venture like this.
