Looking forward to hearing that it's all fixed. Good luck.

Be sure and update us after the change. I was like Busboy, had the same issue and went back on with the old tires cause they were still on the rims, problem gone. I now run Mastercraft by Cooper with no issues.

Will do on the update. New tires should be here tomorrow and have the RAM lined up tire swap on Wednesday.

Going tomorrow to get the new BFGoodrich tires installed and swapped out with the Michelins. Will report back when I get a chance to hook up the trailer and see how it handles.

Well, had the Michelins replaced today and I noticed a strange thing while I was unloading from the back of my truck when I got home. I noticed the sidewalls of the Michelins were very "floppy" with no rims on them. I don't remember the BFGoodrich tires being that "floppy" when I loaded them in the truck this morning. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this will solve my problem. I'll report back once I have a chance to hook the travel trailer and go for a test run down the highway. Thanks again for the all the comments and suggestions!

I have a set of Michelins on my rig and they have the absolute floppiest sidewall I have ever seen on PU tires. I had some trailer sway also but went through the steering box tightening sequence as per the FSM, replaced my track bar bushing with a Poly one and put as much caster in the front as I could get and it now drives fairly decent. Not yet as well as it did with none of the above and stiffer sidewall tires but much better and liveable.

I was reluctant to buy Michelins because of issues I had years ago with them on cars but there are so many happy guys I gave them a try. Won't do that again and these are going for a ride before next winter. I will give them credit for appearing to wear extremely well but that doesn't go far with me with such a weak sidewall.

Tire troubles

I worked all My life and retired from a rubber plant that sold rubber to all tire makers and say as You will the # 1 tire made is the ones You are takeing back I do not work for any one to-day retired 8 years but still remember the that there quality was first and if price was added in they paid for the best product out there if a test was done on any box of our product and did not match there specks from a train car load they sent the hole car back 72 skids that went to some other tire maker they may have droped the speck on tires but I do not think so I had the same tire on some trucks I drove and they have a softer ride but I had not any problems at all jfyI

I went through a similar issue with the Michelins on my last truck, as soon as I put the toy hauler behind it you could feel it was "mushy" . My tire guys let me swap them out w/o issue, and went with a new Cooper AT3 brand E rated tires and it felt like it should! Hope the swap solves your problem.
When is the next road trip? I am just north of you in Rockledge and a new Cummins convert from the power joke side!

Hey firstdude,

I am glad to hear others went through the same issues (you know what I mean) with their Michelins. I was going to try and hook the trailer up today when I got from work, but the afternoon Florida storms struck! Next trip up is to Jetty Park for a Beach Camping trip with 3 other friends for a long weekend in June. Have you been since they remodeled? Welcome to the Cummins side!

Well, had a some free time from work today, so came home early and hooked up the trailer and went for a ride. The Dodge towed perfectly - again! Had just a slight "wiggle" but may be due to me screwing with the hitch for the last three months. Will have to just re-tweak the hitch to get it back to where it was originally. Thanks again for all the replies and suggestions! Great to know that it wasn't just me in this situation.

Jimmie

BTW...TireRack.com took the Michelins back (they had UPS come to my house and shipped them back for free) and refunded my total purchase price from February!!! Thanks TireRack!!!
