Front mount hitch receivers?

Does anyone have info on one that will take more than a 500lb vertical load? I want to relocate the parking space for my 24’ trailer (empty weight is around #4500, guessing tongue weight is 700-800?), and a front mount would make sticking it into a tight spot much easier. The only ones I find in a google search are rated at 300 to 500lbs.

Thanks

Did a quick search and found similar results for either a Reese or Curtis hitch. I did find another forum where someone had recently had one made that was heavier than normal. Read the last post at the bottom of the thread.

You won't have any problem if your hitch is rated for 500#. It's not like you are running down the highway with it. I have one, and have moved trailers with at least 500# tongue weights.

For moving a trailer around your yard, I wouldn't worry about your tongue weight being over 500 lbs.

All your doing is parking a trailer, not cruising the interstate.

Not sure of the rating. Have you tried Torklift? I had everything Torklift on my 96'. Sure is easy to manueaver stuff off the front.

Thanks for the replies. I suspect that most hitches are underrated for liability reasons, and a #500 rating would prolly work fine for my purposes (doubt that I’d exceed 3 MPH while positioning a trailer). I looked at the Torklift website but didn’t see any front mounts. I’ll check with a local dealer next week.

Thanks again,

John

Mine is a drawtite, and I believe it is rated for 500#. I looked at the website, and it says 300# now. I'll look on the hitch and let you know.
