Exhaust brake for 04.5 with 48re automatic

I'm upgrading to a 12,000lb Arctic Fox 27-5L fifth wheel. I would like to add an exhaust brake to my truck. I see that Pacbrake offers a kit for my truck which includes a lockup controller which is needed in pre-2006 trucks. I have also read conflicting stories about effects of EBs on the thrust washer in my model year transmission. Is this something to be concerned about? I don't want to spend $2500 on an EB that destroys my transmission. Has anyone actually had transmission problems attributable to an EB?

Been towing 12,000 with my o4-48re and manual lock(mystery switch) up with BD exh brake for 6+ years and no problems.
I heard the same rumors prior to adding the exh brake....................So far so good?

Well, I pulled the trigger on a Pacbrake and had it installed before my trip to June Lake (Eastern Sierras). Dragging my 12K lb 5th wheel down the Sherwin Grade (6 degree) was a piece of cake. I never had to touch the brake pedal. In fact, I had to hit the throttle a couple of times to maintain 55mph. These should be standard equipment on anything that tows heavy.
