Dually wheels (budds) on tandem (4 tire) trailer

I've got a 16' tandem trailer with 8 lug wheels (4 tires).

I am considering scrounging up 2 sets of 2nd gen dually front wheel adapters and running some dually wheels I've got laying around instead of the standard non-dually wheels (keeping the single tandem arrangement not dual tandem).

Advantage would be standardizing wheels/tires/spare tires between truck and trailer.

Terribly foolish?

Trailer rims have a zero offset, using a rim that has even a small offset will take out the bearings very quickly.

If the adapter and the drop center wheel add up to near 0 offset, it should work fine.

That was my thinking too. Now to find those adapters at a decent price!
