Double towing.
Double towing.
I have looked through the threads and can't find what I need. What are the specifics for towing two trailers in CA, such as weight, length, type of trailers, and licensing? Or who can I talk to, trust, and hold accountable when I get pulled over? The DOT website is not very clear.
My wife and I might get a boat and want to know if I could double or not otherwise that means two trips to the lake for me (four total) and that is something to consider before buying.
Thanks guys I look forward to the responses.

I would ask a CA trooper or stop by a scale house, without the trailers of course, and ask them to show you the regs and how they interpret them. You could also call the commercial division, but that can often yield an immediate no as it did for me here in AK. A couple of months later I asked at a state scale and they said it was fine, same as a trooper that I came across. They will want to know combined vehicle length, weight, gross towing capacity of truck, and # of axles and brakes. Good luck getting it done. We tow a 2 place snowmobile trailer with sleds behind our 28' 5er and it works great.
Look around here...

...you can't tow much in CA without a commercial class A license.
