6.oh no!!!

Well, some friends of mine that bug me about my 2000 3/4 ton Cummins, just got their "we bought a 2003 6.0 and got a GREAT DEAL" towed in to the dealership as they were going hunting. Blown head gaskets, puked out all the antifreeze and they say the motor went "kaboom".

I've got twice the miles on my truck and will take that thing anywhere without a worry. Feel bad for them, but I tried to warn them about that motor. They told me, "as long as you don't turn up the power, your fine!!!" I'm not sure if they still have warranty, but hey, Ford shares are at a $1.66 right now!!!!

I am at 60K+ miles on my Dodge. I had a Ford Diesel previously, and I thought it was a great truck. The Dodge is ahead of the Ford in pretty much all factors. I did like the Fords free spin hubs. Scotty

I have had a couple of Fords (7.3 and 6.0 liters) with the last one a 2005, it had the intergrated break controller and that was sweet. I have the dodge now because of the 6.0 cracked heads, bad injectors, leaking egr cooler. All with less then 45000 miles

If dodge would have put the intergrated break system and a better tranny in this truck it would be top notch! I now have 30000 miles and roling. And I am getting better fuel milage with the dodge.
I do think that the guy that is getting 15 pulling a trailer with a dodge and only 10.4 with the ford is full of it. I have a light boat under 3000lb and only get between 13 and 14 at best!!

If you are pulling less than 3K and only getting 13 mpg, you really need to investigate what is wrong with your truck - or stop towing at 85 mph. Seriously, that is not right for your truck. I can hit 15 mpg on the highway towing 10K in my 03 - but at 60 mph. Yes, I know it is an 03 305 engine which does average better mileage than the 04.5 and up stuff but it isn't that much different.

Your mileage should improve with more miles. You only have 30k miles. It takes a little to break-in these engines.

I do pull at about 75 mph and only started getting 19.5 with no load. I get about 10mph with my 37' 5th wheel that is about 15k lbs.

Now these are not the overhead computer that thing is not even close! It shows about 3 to 5 mpg better. But you figure it out on paper and those are the numbers that I am getting.

Hmmm.... I only get 14-15 MPG just driving around with the truck. I don't think 13 MPG would be that bad moving 3K?

Those numbers are depressing!

I do hardly any city driving and easily average 20 mpg when empty. I calculate mileage at every fill up.

Towing at 75 mph explains a lot. 19.5 mpg unloaded is just about right for your truck. There is nothing wrong there. Going from 19.5 mpg empty and then dropping to 13 mpg towing less than 3K doesn't quite add up - that is more of a drop than I would anticipate.

And yes, my mpg numbers are calculated at every fill up. I never even use the mpg feature on the overhead

Yep, my eyes haven't been watered by the fuel numbers on the Dodge. Figure it is about the same mileage as I get out of my 02 Stroker. However, I know the lift and tires on the Dodge don't help (Ford is at stock height, little bigger than stock tires).

I have 3 fords and one new dodge. 2 of them at 7.3psd both have dual hpop system also ballbearing garett turbos and custom fuel system also stage 2 injectors. The 6.0 has a sct tuner.

I just moved our ranch to oregon from california. I have been pulling loads over 24,000 trailer weight. Our dodge has pull all of the biggest loads just because it pulls the hills better faster and with better mpg. I'm not knocking my 7.3 but can keep up with our 07 cr dodge.
