CHAMPION 12v winch?
Has anyone heard of this type of winch? Does anyone have one they can comment about? It's for sale at Costco In BC Canada for $400.00 for a 8000 lb with power in and out. remote, fairlead, mounting bracket and about 90' of cable. I need it for pulling 3800-4000 lb. cars in and out of my enclosed car hauler. I'll only use it about a dozen times a year, if that. It's way less than 1/2 price of a similarly equipped Warn. Just wondering if it's a case of "you get what you pay for" (junk) or if it will work for my uses?
Thanks, Mark.
Thanks, Mark.
I don't know anything about Champion winches (except that their imported from China), or what your trailer setup is like, but I'd say an 8000 lb winch is overkill. If you're on a budget, a 1500 or 2000 lb winch sould do the job easily, and can be had for under $100.
FWIW, that winch is slower than molassas in Janurary.....a guy in our 4x4 club bought one and it is painfully slow but does pull strong......you get used to all these lightening fast modern winches.....you get what you pay for, I guess. IMO, you would be much better off with a 2500 - 3500 lb ATV/Utility winch.....the line speed will be much more desirable and the winch will be much lighter and more compact.....Lots of guys around here are using 1500 - 2000 lb winches to pull their cars onto trailers without any problems.
