Brakelight harness
Would wal-mart or tractor supply carry a respectable light harness or should I steer clear? I had a cheapy from a chain store on another truck that was ok for about a year.

Well no one else replied so... I've bought a few kits from U-Haul with no problems. One seven pin round and a 4 flat. I installed everything and ditched the instructions that came with the box and didn't "splice" the wires, I stripped the wires, wraped the new wire around the old wire, soldered and heat taped the wires to protect. I'm a firm believer you don't cut wires and wire nut them together on brake lights. If the nut falls off you have no brake lights on the truck or trailer.

I definently support 2500Rams advice, always solder when ever possible and use the shrink wrap when possible, it's the professional/reliable way to do it. As far as a source for a brake light harness, I ordered mine through my local Dodge dealership, a little more $$$ but it fits and works flawlessly. Try looking around www.hitches4less.com for a harness, they seem to have agood selection of stuff and OK prices.
