Brake controller hook up

A little background on my truck, mine did not come with the tow haul package, I installed a trailer hitch and seven pin connector. It was an aftermarket connector not the overpriced one at the dealer. I can not read and understand a wiring diagram. Now I'm going to hook up my brake controller and I have a few questions I hope someone can answer.

1. I have 3 wires hanging loose on my 7 pin connector on the bumper of my truck. A black wire which is an Aux power lead, A blue wire which is electric brakes, and a Purple wire which is reverse. Where do I need to hook these up?

2. I have the harness that hooks my prodigy brake controller to the blue connector next to the parking brake. By looking at the connections on it and matching them up with the wiring on the truck it looks like the black wire on the controller goes to the tan with red stripe wire which is a battery hook up, Blue wire on controller hooks to the green wire on the truck which is brake, red on the controller goes to the white with tan stripe which is stoplight, and white on the controller goes to black which is ground. Question is are all of the wires on the blue harness on the truck hooked up somewhere or do I need to hook them up? From what I understand I do not have a brake hook up since I dont have the trailer tow package. If so where does this green wire go to? And also why is the white with tan stripe wire hanging loose in the back of my truck? Where does this go?

Sorry if this is a confusing post but I am utterly confused on the hook up of this thing. I was just going to take it to the dealer to have him hook up the tow package but he wanted $80 just for the 7 pin connector.

Thanks for any help

Black wire is used for auxilary power in the trailer (cargo lights, inverter, ect)
Blue wire connects to the brake wire on the brake controller.
Purple wire would splice into the reverse lights on your truck and power lights on the trailer when your in reverse.

www.marksrv.com is a good resource and will answer your wiring questions better than I have.

Do I need to run the blue wire from the 7 pin harness to the brake controller wire? Do I just splice it in or is there somewhere else I need to hook it up?

connects all the way to the front to your brake controller.

Or at least that is the way I run it on my Frontier. I connected the lights and turn signal in with the a "T" connector from Draw-Tite, I run a switched wire for the break away battery and one from my brake controller to the brake pin on my socket.
My brake controller has a power wire, and a switch wire that is tapped into the brake light switch on the brake pedel.
Im running a 6 wire on mine, but your 7th wire is just the auxillary power line for lights and utilities on the trailer.
